While February may be the shortest month of the year, it also is usually the harshest. There isn't just cold . . . there's freezing cold . . . then bitter cold . . . and also disrespectful cold. February is very rarely our friend. This February has been particularly difficult for a good portion of the country. It affects our travel and it definitely affects our moods. So what can we do about it?
Life doesn't stop because the weather is bad, which means we have to keep doing what we do every day while fighting the winter blues. Brisk, beautiful winter days are invigorating, but overcast and cold is a different thing all together. It can sometimes be difficult to get into a different head space when the weather is icky and you're dressing in layers. So let's talk about some things you can do or incorporate into your schedule to shake off the winter doldrums. Matter of fact, let's just list a few:
Finalize your spring break plans
Incorporate physical activity into your routine (club sports, yoga, Zumba, etc.)
Reconnect with/find a hobby
Attend a sporting event or plan a watch party with friends
These ideas aren't an end-all to the winter blues, but they are a start. The idea is to get out of your head and do things that give you life. (Do y'all still say that?) Try one or two to start the momentum and follow where it goes . . . at least until the weather turns.
